Chemutai murgor biography definition
Chemutai Murgor is the chief finance officer and finance director at Standard Chartered Kenya and chief finance officer of Standard Chartered Africa.
She started her career at the bank as the head of business finance in 2001 before taking over the finance division in 2004. In 2007, Chemutai was appointed CFO/finance director for Standard Chartered Kenya and CFO for Standard Chartered East Africa, a position she held until June 2024.
Chemutai’s career in finance began in 1992, when she joined Deloitte & Touche in London, UK as a trainee accountant. She became a manager at the professional services firm in 1996, eventually taking up the role of senior manager in Nairobi, Kenya in 1998.
Her career, which spans more than 30 years, has seen her sit on the boards of various institutions, among them the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA), Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST), International Water Management Institute (IWMI), CGIAR, and Women Corporate Directors. From 2016 to 2021, she acted as a trustee on the management advisory board of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Chemutai holds an MBA from the University of Warwick Business School and a BCom from the University of Nairobi.
